Role Description
We are Crestview Strategy, a leading multinational public affairs agency with teams across Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. We work with some of the world’s most prominent organizations on complex, high-impact government relations and communications mandates. We’re hiring an Associate Consultant to join our Ottawa team in support of both local clients and national mandates.
This role is ideal for a motivated professional with experience in government relations or politics with a deep understanding of Ontario’s political and policy landscape. As an Associate Consultant, you will lead major client files, manage and grow accounts, and contribute to new business development. You’ll play a key role in onboarding new clients, shaping public affairs strategies, and delivering high-quality work across sectors. We’re looking for someone strategic and entrepreneurial, with strong communication skills and a passion for public affairs.
You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-performing team that values diverse perspectives and experiences. You’ll also have the opportunity to share in the revenue you help generate through your contributions and grow into senior leadership roles within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
As Associate Consultant, you will be directly responsible for:
- Monitoring and reporting on government activities in a proactive and timely manner
- Policy research and developing client-strategy aligned proposal plans
- Preparing written materials such as agendas, activity reports, briefing documents, presentations etc., tailored for various audiences and platforms
- Supporting the team to plan and execute virtual and in person events and meetings
- Leading the ongoing tracking and reporting on client activities
- Building trusting relationships with colleagues, clients, and government personnel
- Engaging in cross functional projects, helping in business development
- Strong communications and writing skills including working with the media, communications planning, and message development.
- Good research and investigative skills as the work may involve understanding evolving issues and policies.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently to meet deadlines.
- Proven problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to evolve and adapt to changing situations.
Qualifications, Experiences and Skills
- Civic, issues or political campaign experience will be highly valued as will experience in government.
- Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 2-3 years of public affairs experience leading public policy files or research projects. While agency experience is preferred, consideration will be given to candidates with strong public affairs backgrounds either in industry or in government.
- Relevant educational degree in political science or public affairs, will be an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including experience working with the media, communications planning and message development
- Familiarity with digital tools and platforms used in public affairs
- Strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving abilities
- Collaborative team player with a growth mindset
- Bilingualism (English and French) is preferred

Role summary
You will bring a minimum of one year of relevant experience, which could be within a public affairs or corporate affairs agency, an in-house public affairs role, the civil service party politics. - Help design, build and service campaigns
- Write and produce clear, compelling and insightful content for a variety of audiences, ranging from strategic communications plans, media and political analysis, client presentations, press releases, stakeholder briefings, messaging grids and social media content
- Conduct research (primary and secondary) on a variety of issues, in a variety of industries and sectors
- Conduct analysis based on your research to identify opportunities and risks that inform a strategy
- Develop strong working relationships with our clients and add value to those relationships

How you’ll contribute:
- Monitor and summarize government and political developments, including committees, question period, and press conferences in the diverse range of policy areas relevant to our clients strategies.
- Contribute to the initial analysis of the implications of political developments and their impact on clients and their engagement strategies; collaborating with our team to deliver written products and reports communicating key insights.
- Support on client media relations activities, such as media monitoring, media list development and drafting media materials , while staying on top of breaking news and emerging cross industry trends, to proactively keep clients informed.
- Assist in creating communications content, including press releases, social media copy, executive speeches and internal communications materials.
- Support the planning and execution of grassroots-level campaigns aimed at recruiting and mobilizing Canadians to support various initiatives.
- Support on campaign materials, such as drafting social media ad copy, building ads on a variety of digital platforms, and monitoring and reporting on campaign performance.
- Assist with drafting and distributing client correspondence and newsletters.
- Provide logistical support, including scheduling meetings and making travel arrangements.
- Help maintain contacts and manage distributions lists.
- Support with the execution of client events.
